2026 MBL Tryout information

MBL Traveling Tryout Information

For the 2026 baseball season, SYBA will be evaluating baseball players for the potential creation of the following MBL teams:

  • 14U
  • 13U
  • 12U
  • 11U
  • 10U

These teams are created and play in the Metro Baseball League (MBL) which is different than our in-house teams (Majors, Minors, Rookies).

After player evaluations, SYBA will determine what MBL teams can and should be created (Including additional divisions within each age group, AAA, AA, A) based on the abilities & skillsets of the players who try out, and the volume of players who can allow SYBA to form competitive teams.

New factors in team creation this year will include previous year performance for that age group as well as the coaching staff available.

SYBA reviews these tryouts on an annual basis and certain age groups may or may not have MBL teams created based on the aforementioned factors.

All players interested are encouraged to try out, and players MUST tryout & register to be on a team.

This year, tryouts will be held on August 11th, 12th, & 13th 2025 at the Larry Forrest baseball fields at the following times:

FAQ:

  • What is the cost?
  • If selected, the registration fee to play on the MBL teams is $400, and is due no later than 11/1/2025.

  • When does the MBL season operate?
    • The MBL main season is from April 1st -July 31st.
      • This includes a minimum of 3 practices and/or games per week.
      • 2-3 weekend tournaments per season, and a end of year league tournament.
      • Late summer/fall practices and games/scrimmages (determined by coach)
      • Offseason gym work (determined by coach)
  • Who should try out?
    • Any player who wants to play in the MBL traveling league. Tryouts do not guarantee selection to a team, however if selected, the expectation from the association is that the player will commit to play. Team creation gets very difficult if we have players try out and back out after teams have been selected.
    • Each year we have many kids who tryout and do not make a team. SYBA looks at our MBL traveling teams as a privilege and if your player is selected and put on a team, the expectation is that the player will make and participate in most/all practices/games. We understand that conflicts and emergencies will arise and are completely understandable.
